Sustainability
Supporting the College and the goal of improving the social, economic, cultural and political aspirations of the Mayan Peoples necessitates on-going support. Building the College was a challenge. However, the on-going success of the program engenders operational and new capital costs. For example, the question of adequate teaching space is problematic as new classrooms are needed. The situation is somewhat critical as classes are now delivered in three shifts.
The Future
In order to meet the future needs of the College, the Central American Mayan Foundation was formed. The goal of the Foundation is two-fold:
- To provide the necessary pedagogical space for the present program with the hope of expanding program options so as to meet the future needs of the Mayans
- To create a sustainability fund so as to ensure the College has the basic funding for the operating costs
Funding
The Foundation is committed to create a Capital Fund with proceeds helping to cover the operational costs, including the administration of the College, salaries for teachers and support staff, and bursaries for needy students. The Capital Fund will guarantee consistent sustainable future funding.
Central American Mayan Foundation is governed by a board of men and women committed to assure that the youth of Central America have the RIGHT TO LEARN. This being our slogan we organized fund raising activities to support programs for the Mayans of Guatemala.
